Not knowing your what state you are from, I’d suggest checking your state law first. In the state of Kansas for instance, you can only carry up to a 4″ folding knife in plain site or concealed. All fixed blades, and auto’s are illegal to carry.
i have a “WESTERN” brand boot knife that’s been with me for 25 years and going strong. BUT like the other guy said, check your state laws. A boot knife is a FELONY in Kalifornia and probably some other states.
if you just want a good all around knife i would recommend a ka-bar the us marine corps has used them for several decades you can pick one up for as cheap as 60 dollars
either a kabar usmc, or a boker applegate, though im looking real close at a kobun by cold steel. they make some interesting designs.
