This is truly a great knife! It is the best survival knife I've seen in a while.

I have not liked the trend in quality survival knives recently; they have started becoming shorter and averaging 6 inches of blade at the most. And although a smaller blade is smaller and easier to carry, it not a practical trade off because it limits its uses (as an axe, spear, small hatchet, etc.). This knife is the perfect size (8 inches), large but not to the point where it is cumbersome.

The workmanship on the knife is excellent. The photos posted do not do it justice. There should be better, larger photos posted so that you can see the true quality of the knife and sheath. This knife, as all true survival knives should, has full tang construction. The sheath is a sturdy composite of nylon over plastic. The picture also does not do justice to the handle. From the picture, it looked like plastic and seemed as if it could slip, but this is not the case. The handle is made of a fiber-glass type material that is textured and very hard & strong.

Having it manufactured by Smith & Wesson, is a plus, because of their reputation when it comes to quality weapons. The cost, for this level of construction, can not be beat. A quality survival knife will put you back $200,...this knife costs about a quarter of that!

My criticisms:
(Things I will fix on mine & S&W should improve on)
1.) The blade should be sent from the factory razor sharp. It was not sharpened as much as it should have been.
2.) The sharpening stone included should be of better quality.
3.) The sheath should have a small compartment with a small, very basic survival kit.
4.) A handle guard would be a nice addition too.

All in all, this is a great knife. I will probably by an extra one in case this knife is ever discontinued.

The first thing that come to mind when you think about a "survival knife", is that it should be strong, thick, sturdy, reliable and able to support all unexpectable situations that may occur, a good gripping and, if possible , a brand that suggest tradition in craftmanship, and last, but not least, a good value.
I have others knives, some of high value, but this one doesn't stay behind to none of them. I'm sure you'll be happy with it, and soon will return to get other one, like me.
I really recommend.

I didn't expect much from a set of 2 knives for 10 bucks. What I received was less than garbage. Save yourself some frustration and get a better quality boot knife from someone else.

this knife came dull, and the serrated part starts half way up the knife.
and the knife is unevenly cut. but i am happy with it. I've taken the plastic sheaths from inside the shoulder sheath and made it in to two separate knifes and sheaths and have given one of the knifes to a friend.
(i think it is kind of psycho to carry around two daggers anyways)

All you really need is a knife sharpener and you will be happy with your purchase...

and since the serrated part started like half way up the blade, it shortened the length of the actual edge of the blade which makes it legal in my state =)

This knife feels a little heavy to me. It is an average size, OK for a knife that will be concealed in a boot. The guard is not as wide as the sheath and not as wide as my hand when holding it. The balance point is right at the guard, if that matters to you.
The blade was somewhat sharpened when it arrived, but not sharp enough.
The sheath is thick and solid, which is a good thing since you don't want the knife cutting right through it. The strap that holds the knife in isn't easy to undo with your thumb because it is so tight. But that really doesn't matter since the strap wraps around the handle from the left and the right, with the snap right in the middle, you can't remove the knife one handed. The clip on the sheath is solid and strong. Though I would have preferred it up higher so the knife sits farther down in the boot. But then you would have to reach further into your boot to release it, and again that is a two handed operation.

This is a nice knife, especially for the price. It fits together very well and you don't have to worry about it falling out of the sheath by accident or anything like that.

The one thing I did was take it to my machine shop and sharpen it, so now it is like a razor blade and it works great now. It was sharp when I got it, but now it is really sharp.

I would buy this knife again if I needed one, so I can rec'mnd one!

The knife is well made, but needed sharpening when it arrived. The sheath works well in high boots and on belts, but a custom sheath may be required for other placements. I recommend this knife to anyone who wants good quality for a low price.
